In the Douro Valley in Northern Portugal is the famous port wine of Portugal
produced. It is often consumed during Christmas time, but not always. There are lots of kinds
of port and you can also find port in cocktails. An important thing you can not forget when
thinking about Portugal is the football. Portugal has huge football clubs, such as Porto,
Sporting CP and S.L. Benfica, also called the big three.
The Portuguese cuisine is influenced by the Mediterranean cuisine and a lot of fish
is included in this dish. For example, you have Bacalhau or Portuguese Cod Fish. Bacalhau

of preparing this dish, such as baking and grilling. It is usually eaten with potatoes and eggs.

Bifanas. Bifanas is a Portuguese sandwich you can find everywhere in the country. The
sandwich consists of marinated pork, paprika and garlic and all these ingredients are served
in white bread.
Portugal is a Roman Catholic country and known for its heritage. Besides that,
family is important for the Portuguese. The Portuguese people also relate with art. Many
cities in Portugal feature art, such as Lisbon. There are a lot of museums to visit when in
Portugal and literature and theatres are also very important. Some places you must visit
when in Portugal are Porto, Amarante and Sortelha. For example, in Amarante you can visit
the bridge of Ponte São Gonçalo.
